Typically, tall ships will have three masts spread along the deck, but occasionally, some may have four or two instead. This all depends on the era in which it was built, the size of the boat, and the purpose of the boat. For instance, if the ship was used for transportation, or as a warship, this may dictate the number of masts on the ship itself.
